Redstone Arsenal Gate Hours - Drivers entering Redstone Arsen on Friday morning are encouraged to use Gate 10 instead of Gate 9. This is the latest move by Arsene officials to ease traffic congestion caused by the furlough of security guards at the site's access points.

With three gates closed during the morning rush hour, Friday was the worst traffic jam of the week, even as a large number of Ministry of Defense civilian employees went on leave that day. On Tuesday, an arsenic officer said he was studying traffic patterns to see if changes could be made to the gate plan. The proposal for staff to use Gate 10 was a result of this research.

Officials said the shift to Gate 10 will reduce waiting times at the l available gates and help avoid the risk of hazards due to traffic congestion.

"We encourage travelers approaching Redstone from the west on I-565 to bypass Exit 14 to Gate 9 and instead use Exit 17 to access Gate 10," Marks said.

Garrison officers said they will continue to monitor traffic patterns, wait times and driver comments as they implement the vacation plans.

Redstone Arsenal Officials Urge Drivers To Bypass Gate 9 In Favor Of Gate 10 On Friday

If you do not have a valid military ID, you may need to visit the Visitor Center to access the post office. Click here for more information about the Redstone Arsenal Visitor Center.

Upon arrival, Soldiers, civilians and contractor personnel and their families may visit Gen. John J. Pershing Community Welcome Center in Building 3443. The Welcome Center can be reached at 1 (256) 842-6122.

The adjacent One Stop facility, located in Building 3494, houses human resources and military personnel. The Military Personnel Office at the One Stop facility provides CAC and ID card services, sub-processing services and other services.

Redstone Arsenal To Reopen Tuesday

While many military family members call the post office home, others choose to live in nearby communities. The neighboring communities of Huntsville, Madison and Monrovia provide housing, employment and other services to military families at Redstone Arsenal. The cost of living in nearby Huntsville is lower than the national average, making the area's rental housing and real estate affordable.

The city of Huntsville and its surrounding areas are west, north, and east of the post office and offer easy access to the Redstone Arsenal. About 200,600 people live in the city. Huntsville is home to several museums, including the U.S. A space and rocket center, a children's museum, an art museum, and museums that explore the history of the area. The 112-acre Huntsville Botanical Garden features a variety of specialty gardens and includes the nation's largest outdoor butterfly house. There are many opportunities for your child's education near Redstone Arsenal. Alabama offers traditional public schools as well as public charter schools and private schools. For younger children, there are several local day care centers and childcare programs to and from the post office.

County school districts include Madison County Schools, Madison City Schools and Huntsville City Schools. There are no DoDEA schools by mail.
