Redstone Arsenal Visitors Center - Anyone who does business at the site's many Army, NASA or other federal offices can expect some relief Monday with the grand opening of the new visitor center at Entrance 1 of Martin Road Gate 1.
This will ease congestion and take some pressure off the only visitor center at the Arsen's Gate 9 Rideout Road/Research Park Boulevard entrance near Interstate 565, Arsen Commander Maj. Gen. Jim Rogers said.

"This building represents how we're forward-thinking, ready for the onslaught of more people," Rogers said. "So we can easily accommodate them and it won't be too painful to get into this post."
In addition to visitor processing, both centers can handle permanent vehicle decks and security badges.
"We're lost on the eastern side of the arsenic of this cyber, like we're at Gate 9," he said.
Redstone is working with state officials to get some new signs on I-565, U.S., Pastorelli said. 72 or U.S. 431 "To tell you how to enter the arsenic," he said. "This is what we're working on."

The new visitor center is a case of Arsenic building on the past to prepare for the future. It consists of the original 1,700 square feet structure which was enlarged in 1961 as the "Control and Identification Building" and expanded to 1,455 square feet in 1963.
It closed in the nineties when "badging" operations were moved elsewhere. In the past year, the building has been gutted, given a new roof, electrical and mechanical systems, expanded and remodeled into a visitor center with six processing stations — including wheelchair access — and lobby seating for 87.
The old red "REDSTONE ARSEN" lettering on the door has been restored and now faces the back lobby as visitors enter the building.
And the original, a wooden telephone stl from 1963 was restored and placed in the lobby, complete with the original, working, massive black rotary telephone.

There are many options for your child's education near Redstone Arsenal. Alabama offers traditional public schools, as well as public charter schools and private schools. For younger children, there are a variety of local daycares and on- and off-site childcare programs.
Area school districts include Madison County Schools, Madison City Schools, and Huntsville City Schools. There are no DoDEA schools on site.

Redstone Arsenal enjoys four seasons. In winter, average highs are in the 40s and 50s, and average lows are in the 30s. In the summer, it's humid and temperatures soar into the high 80s, with average lows in the 70s. Redstone Arsenal receives 56 inches of rain each year. Snow is not unheard of, but is rare because the winters are mild.
